Duck-duck-goose is a fun game we play at summer camp! In fact there's many ways we play, as this video shows the "Backward Duck Duck Goose" game on the sand which the kids absolutely love.

Sometimes when we've got a free minute or two, we spend time scanning our computers looking for cool photos to share with you. Here's one of 7-year old camper Max W. surfing at summer camp last year. And if your child wants to learn to surf, we can teach them, too, no experience necessary! :)

So sorry to say, there's a 90% chance of rain predicted for this coming Sunday, May 6, so we need to cancel the open house we've had schedule forever! Drats!

Anyway, the new (rescheduled) date is Sunday, May 6. Hopefully we'll be done with the rainy season by then. But if you don't want to wait that long, please let us know and we'll be happy to schedule a private site tour with you of our campsite locations at your convenience. Ocean Activities and Beach Games, Too

When you think of summer camp at the beach, you probably think of ocean swimming predominately and all the things that go along with it like surfing or boogie boarding. Well, campers certainly enjoy those types of activities at Aloha Beach Camp's Keiki Camp program at Paradise Cove. However, campers participate in just as many fun activities on the sand. One of the more popular games is the Seaweed Beach Maze. Kids and counselors collect lots of seaweed from the beach, then the staff sets up a maze the kids can walk through -- pretty cool!

Do We Need to Send Lunch?

In general, campers bring their own lunch to Keiki Camp. But Paradise Cove also has one of the coolest take-out restaurant stands in Los Angeles with lots of delicious kids meals like hot dogs and chicken fingers. The take-out stand is located right on the beach, adjacent to where we set up camp, so if you want to send money our counselors will gladly order food from the restaurant for your child.

Aloha Beach Camp provides drinks and an afternoon snack every day. Also, from time-to-time, we will give you a heads-up that we're providing lunch (such as pizza) on a given day, so you don't need to send your own.

Your Free Brochure Is Coming Soon

We want to apologize to everyone who's requested a free summer camp brochure from us recently. Unfortunately we've run out of brochures due to more interest in Aloha Beach Camp than we predicted, so we ordered more brochures a few days ago. We put a rush on the order, so we expect to have them by the end of this week. If you have not received your brochure yet, we will definitely mail you one this week!

This Saturday, March 3, 2012 Woodland Hills Academy is hosting a Camp Fair Expo. Keiki Camp and many other Los Angeles preschool summer camps will be there. The Expo runs from 10 to 2. We understand your weekends are full, but if you're looking for a great summer camp opportunity here in L.A. or even an overnight camp experience somewhere else, you could find it this weekend in Woodland Hills.

Today is the first day of summer camp 2011 at Aloha Beach Camp's Keiki Camp at Paradise Cove. If you've got a young child, in kindergarten, preschool or 1st or 2nd grade in Los Angeles, Keiki Camp could be a perfect summer camp fit for you. In general we don't have a name your own price for summer camp option for the daily rate, but we are very sensitive to the high cost of raising kids and want every child to have the opportunity to enjoy a camp experience.

Even though our "name your own price of camp" option is technically limited to buying a Season Pass, we might be able to consider it for the daily rate, too, so let us know what you're comfortable paying by emailing us at info@alohabeachcamp.com and we'll see if we can help.

What About Nap Time?

Since Aloha Beach Camp's Keiki Camp is geared specifically to younger children, sometimes campers may want to take naps at camp because they are still at that point in their lives. We don't have a scheduled nap time at camp because the days are full and we have lots of other "down time" with arts and craft projects, story time, etc.

But if anyone wants to lay down for a rest, that's perfectly fine -- we can make accommodations for that. For the most part, however, kids fall asleep on the bus on the way home because we always keep them busy at camp.

FANTASTIC open house yesterday at Paradise Cove. Summer camp starts next month so we don't know if we'll be having any more open houses, but if this was the last one we went out with a bang. L.A. Surf Camp for Younger Kids

Did you know Keiki Campers (even as young as 3 years old) can learn to surf at camp? Surfing is on the daily activity schedule every Wednesday this summer. And parents welcome to visit us at the beach to watch your children surf.

So if your child wants to learn to surf, make sure you sign up for at least one or two Wednesdays, and soon your child will be riding the waves from the ocean all the way to the shore!
